Rejection of unauthorized e-mail collection

Anyone is prohibited from collecting email addresses automatically from internet websites without prior consent from the internet homepage operator or administrator, using programs or any other technical devices. Engaging in email address collection in violation of this provision may result in imprisonment for up to one year or a fine of up to 10 million won, as stipulated in Article 74, Paragraph 1, Subparagraph 5 of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, etc.

Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, Article 50-2 (Prohibition of Unauthorized Collection of Email Addresses):
No one shall collect email addresses automatically from internet websites without prior consent from the internet homepage operator or administrator, using programs or any other technical devices.
No one shall use email addresses known to be collected, sold, or distributed in violation of the provisions of Paragraphs 1 and 2 for the purpose of information transmission.
